The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
Published: May 7, 2013 by G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers (First published January 1, 2013)
512 Pages
Goodreads Summary: After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.
Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker.
Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.
Review: I read this book as part of the Reading My Library Challenge. From the moment I began this book, I was drawn into the story. I love dystopian and post-apocalyptic type books so this was right up my alley. At times it reminded me a little of The Host by Stephanie Meyer but much more amped up. The book bounces between around Cassie, Evan, Ben and Sam’s POV. I really liked that because we were able to really get in the mind of each of the main characters. I didn’t really have a favorite character because they were all so awesome! I am so glad that this is a series and not a stand-alone because I just have to find out what happens to Cassie, Ben and Sam. This book was almost perfect for me. There were just a few small things that I would have liked to know more about. If you’re looking for a thrilling series to start, check out this book asap!
4/5
Are the varous POV’s first-person or third-person? I’ve seen a lot of ‘multiple POV’s” but it’s just third-person writing, which is the laziest. If you’re going to write from a character’s point of view, write it first person and show us the insides of their head.

All of the various POVs are first person.
