As I have been rearranging my shelves lately I’ve been noticing how many books I have that I haven’t read yet. It’s a little overwhelming. And yet, I still continue to buy more books. I have zero room left on my shelves and I’m positive that some of the books I own but have not read I won’t want to keep after I have read them. In order to get a better idea of how many there are I decided to gather them all in one place. Well, in groups anyways since I have books in different rooms on different floors of my house.
I am currently doing the #ReadingMyLibrary Challenge which goes until the end of April. So starting May 1st I am challenging myself to only read books that I already own but haven’t read, beginning with the ARCs. Luckily I am all caught up on my eARCs so I just have to worry about the print copies. This is going to take a very long time but I feel bad neglecting my books and it’s high time I read them all!
How many books do you own that you haven’t read yet?
You’ve really got some goodies on your shelves!
I loved Connelly’s The Lincoln Lawyer, although it’s not for everyone. I was hesitant to read it since I feared the courtroom drama would put me to sleep. I found it riveting!
Another one that is a super favorite of mine is Salem’s Lot.

I see so many great titles on your TBR shelf! The Road, Stephen King, I Am Legend. Neil Gaiman, The Forgotten Garden… And quite a few are on my own TBR pile as well. 😀 My own TBR pile is currently over 200 titles according to goodreads; oops! Although the mayority is on my kindle… It’s quite hard AND expensive getting English physical copies here in Argentina.

Ahh it can be overwhelming! I just redid my book jar and I have about 100 books that I own that I haven’t read yet! Starting in May I am going to start using that jar and try to just read those until I can get the count down. Buying more books is so addicting though!

That’s exactly my plan! I have my jar all ready to go for after I finish my ARCs.

I need to do this too! I have been doing better (except for today) in not buying books and reading what I have. But I see everyone’s new TBR books on Goodreads and all the awesome reviews and I want them all!! Ugh…I need to read faster and become a billionaire.

I’m hoping to buy as few books as possible over the summer so that I can read as much as possible of the books on my shelves. My owned TBR is embarrassingly high, for which I blame school and incredibly interesting new releases.

Wow that’s a lot of books! I also have a lot that I haven’t read yet, that’s why I’ve stopped to buy 🙂

I’m afraid to count how many books I own that I haven’t read. Once Reading My Library is over and I finish reading my ARCs, I will go back to my #TBR20. The goal is to read 20 books you own before you buy any new ones. I find it to be slightly less daunting than trying to read ALL the books I own. I have Philippa Gregory’s Virgin Earth waiting for me too…

I love Philippa Gregory, especially the Tudor court novels and the Cousins War. The #TBR20 sounds like a great idea! My town’s hospital auxiliary annual book sale is next week and that is the last time I plan to buy books for awhile. Or at least I hope until I can weed out some of the books I don’t want to keep to make space 🙂

Wow, that’s a big undertaking! Good luck! I have too many print and Kindle books that I haven’t read and I’m overwhelmed by it. It doesn’t help that I’m a moody reader and will impulsively buy a book that I never read. I wish there was more time in the day to get through my books. 🙂

It is going to take me forever! I don’t even want to think about the Kindle books I have but not read haha. I’m definitely a mood reader but I’m going to try and utilize my TBR jar to accomplish this massive task or I feel like I’ll spend the majority of the time staring at my shelves trying to decide what to read. I should have made my paper slips color coded by genre!
