North Shore 2015 Vacation

From June 11-14 Ethan and I had a mini vacation in one of our favorite locations: the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota.  I grew up going there a lot with my family and he also did with his family.  The air is so much more fresh and clean.  It’s more peaceful and relaxing.  From the moment you hit Duluth on the drive up, you feel the weight of your normal life lift off of your shoulders.  Take a deep breath of that fresh, lake air and you instantly feel refreshed.  Although the trip was shorter than we would have liked, it was definitely what we needed!  On Saturday we met up with my parents for dinner.  They have been looking at buying property up there so they were up with a realtor for the weekend.  All in all we had a great time and are already looking forward to our next trip up.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip.

  1. Awesome! I’ll be up that way next weekend! Ok, I need to know….how did your black bear encounter go?! I’ve spend so much time backpacking up there and I have yet to run into one. I’m a bit jealous 🙂 Also, I love that little book store so much. Last year when I was there I checked out their recommendation section and came out with One Square Inch of Silence. Based on some other books that I’ve read that you’ve seemed to enjoy as well, you might like it!

    • Awesome! I hope you have a great time! The black bear encounter was crazy! When we were taking that photo I heard some pretty loud rustling behind us but we had seen a lot of people with dogs on the trail so didn’t think much of it. We were coming around a bend in the trail and I saw something black moving out of the trees and all of a sudden there it was on the trail! I was surprised it didn’t see me so I just backed up slowly and it just continued on its way into the woods on the other side of the trail. I was really surprised to see one because the park seemed fairly crowded that day! I’ll have to check that book out! Thanks for the tip 🙂
