Shelf Control – January 7, 2016

Shelf Control

Shelf Control is a weekly feature hosted by Bookshelf Fantasies.  Consider this a variation of a Wishing & Waiting post… but looking at books already available.  Take a look at your shelves and/or Kindle and post about a book you own but haven’t read yet.

68041Title: The Earthsea Quartet
Author:  Ursula Le Guin
Published: October 28th 1993 by Penguin (first published January 1st 1984)
Length: 691 Pages

Goodreads Summary: As a young dragonlord, Ged, whose use-name is Sparrowhawk, is sent to the island of Roke to learn the true way of magic. A natural magician, Ged becomes an Archmage and helps the High Priestess Tenar escape from the labyrinth of darkness. But as the years pass, true magic and ancient ways are forced to submit to the powers of evil and death.

How I Got It: I bought it used at Half Price Books.

When I Got It: 2014

Why I Want To Read It: Despite my love of the fantasy genre, I had never actually heard of Ursula Le Guin until I read and watched The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler.  Grigg, the male character in the book club, LOVED Ursula Le Guin and really wanted Jocelyn to read her books.  In 2014 I finally picked up a copy of this book but still haven’t gotten around to reading it.  Hopefully I will have time to read it this year.
