November 2016 Book Haul

Book Haul

Another month gone by, another book haul that has gotten out of control.  But it’s not as bad as it looks, I promise!  It was my birthday this month so I received a lot of books as gifts from friends.

20161129_183750

First off, I will start off with the two ARCs that I received.  I received The Bear and the Nightingale through LibraryThing Early Reviewers program.  I received Love and First Sight from the publisher.  I am really excited to read both of them!14955834_10100216895701663_5947175443050843673_n.jpg

Next I have a few books that I found at Target.  Two of them are signed copies and one was on a clearance endcap because it was slightly damaged.  I couldn’t pass it up so now I just need to track down the first two books of the series haha.20161129_184939

Then I found a few books on Book Outlet.  I have been debating buying the 75th anniversary edition of Gone With the Wind for a long time so I finally caved and decided to add it to my GWTW collection.  I also got the last book of the Graceling trilogy, A Christmas Carol, and The Star-Touched Queen.20161129_185147

I also found a few books on Thrift Books.  I’m still working on completing my Outlander hardcover set of the current editions so I lucked out and found a decently priced copy of The Fiery Cross.  20161129_185102

I made a couple of book purchases on Black Friday that I am really excited about!  I am adding another Outlander hardcover to my collection as well as the 3rd book of the Bridget Jones series.  I got those from Amazon with their special holiday book deal.  Then I bought The Chemist at Target.  20161129_184839

I had ordered The YA Chronicles exclusive Gemina box awhile back and that finally arrived!  I loved it!  img_20161120_191023

I was also really excited about the November OwlCrate which featured an exclusive cover of Heartless!  I actually much prefer this cover to the regular black and red cover.  It also came with a copy of Alice in Wonderland, which I realize now I forgot to include in the complete photo.  img_20161121_122229

And now onto the birthday gifts!  I have such thoughtful friends.  First off we have my awesome package from Shelbie.  The book she sent along with everything else in this package is Starflight by Melissa Landers.  img_20161117_221134

Next up is this killer package from Ashley @ Socially Awkward Bookworm.  So many cool things!  And a book I have been dying to read – Nemesis by Anna Banks!!  It looks even more gorgeous in person.  I have since started coloring in the color me journal and I love it! So relaxing.img_20161116_184522

My friend Kristen (author of Blonde Eskimo) sent me an e-gift card for Amazon so I could pick out some books.  I was able to get some amazing YA books that I’ve really been wanting to read for awhile. img_20161121_202922

And last but certainly not least, the absolutely fantastic package from Tricia @ Bookworm Coalition and Lauren Bird Horowitz (author of Shattered Blue).  Omg these two know me so well and just killed with with every single thing in their package.  I actually teared up when I opened the book to find that not only was it signed but it was personalized to ME from Diana Gabaldon!!! Omg never in a million years did I think I would ever get a personalized book from her.

So those are all of the books that I got this past month!  I’m having a hard time finding space for them all on my shelves so it might be time for another culling.  What books did you get this month?

October Book Haul

It’s been another full month of book buying even though I told myself I wouldn’t. Zero self control over here, folks!  I’m not even going to attempt to say that I’m going to do better in November because we all know that doesn’t work for me!  I did receive two books for review.  Both of them are for the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program.

I also decided to subscribe to Uppercase for the month to try it out.  I put my OwlCrate on hold for October because I was pretty sure I knew what the book was going to be and wasn’t all that interested in it. But knowing my luck, the OwlCrate and the Uppercase were the same again so I ended up with the book anyways.

I had two preorders this month – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets illustrated edition and Gemina by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman.  One of my friends ended up finding a signed copy of Gemina at her Target so I knew I had to check mine for one because I adore this author duo.  So now I have two copies of Gemina and I’ve been thinking about doing a special giveaway on my Instagram when I hit 500 followers so be sure to check out my bookstagram – The Worn Bookmark.

I also had a preorder for The Making of Outlander: The Official Guide To Season 1&2!  I was so excited to get this and I’m really looking forward to reading this in November while I rewatch the show!

I also managed to score 5 other signed books this month in addition to the copy of Gemina I found at Target.  I got Replica by Lauren Oliver and Tales of the Peculiar by Ransom Riggs from Target.  And I found The Midnight Sun by Marie Lu and What Light by Jay Asher at Half Price Books. And I also just received an order from Thriftbooks that included a hardcover copy of The Twelve by Justin Cronin that happened to be a signed copy so that was a very pleasant surprise!

My Thriftbooks order also included Blood and Gold by Anne Rice, Vittorio the Vampire by Anne Rice, Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice, Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier, and Son of the Shadows by Juliet Marillier.  At Half Price Books I happened to find a copy of the third book in the Sevenwaters series on clearance but I forgot to take a photo of it.

I also had a couple of Book Outlet orders.  The first one has a couple of the Supernatural books.  I also got another Robin McKinley book to add to my collection and The Shadow Queen which is a book I’ve been really wanting to read since before it was released.  I also got Assassin’s Heart because it sounds so good.

picture_20161011_175833606

The second one has a bunch of The Vampire Diaries books.  I’ve read the entire first series plus The Return series and they are SO different from the show but I still really love them.  So I’m working to complete my Vampire Diaries book collection.  I also got a couple of Jojo Moyes books and another Robin McKinley.

So those are all of the books that I got this month!  I will have plenty of reading to keep me busy for the foreseeable future!

What books did you get in October?

September Book Haul

Book Haul

Another month where I went a little overboard on the book buying.  I was trying so hard to be good but Book Outlet was getting a lot of great books that I’ve been wanting for a long time.  I also had a couple of preorders and a trip to Mall of America resulted in a Barnes & Noble purchase.  I’m really excited about all of the books I got this month.

Starting off with my preorders… I was really excited to find out about Good Choice Reading’s virtual signing for Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas! I was able to get a personalized copy and it was also the special Barnes & Noble edition that has fan art on the end papers.

img_20160910_122123

I also preordered Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo!  I am in love with the red edges on the pages and the awesome preorder swag.

img_20160927_174438

My last preorder was from Barnes & Noble. I found out they were going to be publishing The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan as one of their special collector’s edition books and I knew I had to have it for my Wheel of Time collection.  It is gorgeous! I’m so in love with it.  The cover is beautiful and it has gold edged pages.

The other day I was at Mall of America to meet a friend from out of state and I couldn’t resist stopping in at Barnes & Noble.  I got After You by Jojo Moyes and Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati.  I really loved Me Before you so I’m looking forward to reading After You to see what Louisa Clark is up to.  Into the Wilderness was in the staff recommendation section with a note saying “ATTN Outlander Fans!”  That definitely caught my attention so I’m really excited to read that one.

img_20160930_063917

After I dropped my friend off at her hotel I stopped by Half Price Books on the way home.  I didn’t find what I was looking for but I did end up buying two other books.  I’ve had In A Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware on my wishlist for awhile. I’ve heard great things about The Passage by Justin Cronin and it was in the clearance section for only $3 so I couldn’t pass that up.

picture_20160928_213536848

One of the arcs I have on NetGalley I realized is actually book 9 in a series and I hadn’t read the first 1-8 so I found a cheap set of the books on eBay and started reading those so I can read and review book 9.

20161001_090133

I am going to be a part of the blog tour for Shutter by Laurie Faria Stolarz so I received my arc this month.  It sounds like a really good book so I’m looking forward to reading it.

img_20160914_190033

I renewed my OwlCrate subscription specifically because of the September theme and because I was about 85% certain I knew which book would be included which was one I really, really wanted.  I was right! And I loved everything in the box.

img_20160920_081231

And now for the majority of my haul…. BOOK OUTLET. I ordered a lot from Book Outlet this month.  I couldn’t restrain myself.

img_20160919_184910img_20160922_180131img_20160924_224522img_20160929_211525

And that is it for my September book haul!  Because this month’s haul was so large, October will definitely be a light month with the exception of a few preorders.

August Book Haul

Book Haul

I continue to be surprised with how fast time is going this year.  It’s hard to believe that August is nearly over already!  I had fully intended to have a very small book haul this month but as usual (for me) things got out of hand.  I found some good stuff on Book Outlet this month and ended up getting more than I had planned.  I also had a few preorders come in as well as a couple of ARCs and some great deals I couldn’t pass up on Amazon.

20160827_111133

We’ll start off with the ARCs I received.  I got two for review and a signed ARC I won in a giveaway.  The two for review are The Cruelty by Scott Bergstrom and The Wolf Road by Beth Lewis.  The signed ARC that I won is An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir.

Next up were the amazing deals I couldn’t pass up on Amazon.  These two books had been on my wishlist since before they were published so I couldn’t resist.

IMG_20160810_180751

I also really wanted to complete my paperback collection of Colleen Hoover’s books so I purchased the Slammed series from Amazon.IMG_20160805_200727

I had preordered Harry Potter and the Cursed Child from Target and it finally arrived in August.IMG_20160804_205255

I also had a few other preorders that published in August that I received.  It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson, and the amazing Nevernight by Jay Kristoff.  I preordered a US signed first edition of Nevernight through Amazon.

IMG_20160802_175044IMG_20160802_211810IMG_20160809_174016

I also purchased a limited edition red edged UK edition through Goldsboro Books and it just arrived yesterday!  It is absolutely stunning! My book is #86 out of 250 First Editions printed exclusively for Goldsboro Books.  Seriously…. look at how gorgeous this book is!IMG_20160829_183354

The majority of my book haul comes from Book Outlet. I had placed several orders throughout the month.  Several of those books I bought specifically for my October Halloweeny TBR.20160827_11013720160827_11024420160827_11031120160827_110346IMG_2069

I also resubscribed to OwlCrate when I found out about the theme for the September box – Darkness.  I renewed in time for the August box as well and everything inside was really cute!  I especially love the Eleanor & Park necklace.IMG_20160827_084312

So that is my entire book haul for August!  I fully intend for September to be a very low spending month, with the exception of a few preorders that are due to be released in September.

July Book Haul

Hello everyone! July has come to an end so it is now time to share my monthly book haul with you!  I had been trying to be good about buying books lately but things don’t always go as planned!

I bought two books from Target.  I have a thing lately where I want all of the signed books.  So when I saw that my Target had signed copies of And I Darken by Kiersten White, I just couldn’t resist.  Plus I have heard that it is a really good book so win for me!  I also got the next book in the Lisbeth Salander series, The Girl in the Spider Web by David Lagercrantz.  I have the original trilogy by Stieg Larsson in paperback so I wanted to wait to get this one until it was released in paperback.

20160705_183054.jpg

I made two orders on Book Outlet this month.  My first order was just three books, all of which I am excited to read.  I got Catacomb (book 3 of the Asylum series), First & Then, and The Way of Kings.

20160722_181430

In my second order I was only planning to get a few books but then I came across a bunch of classics to add to my collection.  Some of the editions that I thought I was getting ended up coming with different covers but oh well.

20160728_195311

In addition to the classics, I got Fire by Kristin Cashore (the sequel to Graceling) and The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey.

I also have a preorder of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child but it won’t be delivered for a few more days.
