Bout of Books 23: Day 6

Afternoon ladies and gents. Yesterday I had another great reading day! I sat down to do some reading in Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum starting where I left off the day before on page 40.  I could not stop reading. 290 pages later and way past my usual bed time on the weekend, I finished it! I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I totally called who the mystery emailer was but I was very happy about it because it was also who I wanted it to be. I’m not quite sure what I’m going to read today just yet. I’m only 42 pages away from meeting my unspoken goal of reading 1,000 pages. I’m thinking I might take a break from contemporaries so that when my Jenny Han boxed set arrives I can come back to the series fresh. I don’t usually read a lot of contemporaries so I can get burned out on them kind of quickly.

Howdy folks! Today is a great day! I’ve been having a pretty great reading week AND today is my last day at my current job! I’ve been here for 7 years so it feels really weird to be moving on but it was time. My new job starts on Monday so the hubby and I are going out tonight to celebrate.  I finished The Kiss Quotient yesterday on my lunch break and it was so good! Exactly what I needed while I wait to get my backordered boxed set of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before boxed set so I can finish that trilogy. It was more adult than I thought it was going to be based on the cutesy cover but I guess that just further proves that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover lol. I loved the two main characters and the storyline. I started a new book last night so I’m on book 3 for this readathon. I’m still in the mood for a cutesy romance book though so I’ve officially put The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson on hold for now. I started Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum. People really loved this one and I’m really intrigued so far.

Day 4 Update:

Pages Read: 109

Total Pages Read: 668

Books Read From:

  • The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
  • Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum

Books Finished:

Have you read any of these books? Have you watched the Netflix movie adaptation of To All the Boys? I’ve watched it twice so far and am planning a third re-watch soon. Can’t get enough of Peter K. 😉

Bout of Books 23: Day 4

Yesterday I had a great reading day! I did venture from my original plan of finishing The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson because I was still in the mood for cute romance after reading and loving To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. So since I could not for the life of me find a physical copy of P.S. I Still Love You, the sequel, ANYWHERE I decided to move on until my hardcover boxed set arrives in two weeks and started The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. It’s cute but in a different way and also not what I was fully expecting. It is very readable and hard to put down. I stayed up past my bed time last night reading in bed with my book light haha. I ended up reading almost 80% of the whole book yesterday!

Day 3 Update:

Pages Read: 255

Total Pages Read: 559

Books Read From:

  • The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

Books Finished:

Oops! I missed yesterday’s post. It ended up being a super busy day and I got a lot done. So today I’ll be giving my update for day 1 as well as day 2. I really  enjoyed To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. It was super cute! I loved the family dynamic with the Song girls and their dad. I loved the boy next door stuff with Josh. Reminded me a little bit of the March sisters with Laurie from Little Women. I need book 2 ASAP. I put it on hold at my library but of course there is a waiting list. I’m currently #4 in line for the ebook and #5 for the physical copy so fingers crossed one of those holds comes in soon otherwise I might just have to make a run to the book store and buy them. I can totally see myself wanting to reread these again in the future. I watched the movie last night after I finished reading the book and it was so good! I laughed, I cried… And when it was over I wanted to watch it again haha. My mission today is to go to as many stores as it takes to find hardcover copies of all three books to add to my collection.

Bout of Books 23: Day 1 – TBR & Goals

Bout of Books day 1 has arrived!!! I’m really excited about this round because I’m just coming off of a month long reading slump. At the beginning of July I was hit with a big wave of stress in relation to my job. The company I currently work for is heavily reliant on the precious metals markets and they are pretty damn low right now so reductions all around have been happening. I was put on part-time status at the beginning of July so it was time to move on and find something else, preferably something a little closer to home as well since my commute is 40-45 minutes one way on a good day. But I am happy to announce that this is my final week at my current job and I start my new job next Monday! I’m pretty excited about it for more reasons than one, not the least of which is cutting my commute down to 25 minutes one way. Anyways, so I am currently in the  middle of a few books right now. One of them is rather big and I’ve barely scratched the surface. My TBR and goals will basically be the same in that I want to finish two of those books. I love that these books are SO different from each other so I’ll have some good variety.

TBR & Goals

  • Finish To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Haan (currently on page 62/369)
  • Finish The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson (currently on page 40/768)

And that’s it! I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself for this round so I’m just going to stick with those. I will try to participate in the daily challenges since I will be posting daily with my updates for the previous day but no guarantees. If I don’t get to it, then I don’t get to it.

Are you participating in Bout of Books? Have you read either of these books?
