Goodreads Summary: Once, a hero arose to save the world. A young man with a mysterious heritage courageously challenged the darkness that strangled the land.
He failed.
For a thousand years since, the world has been a wasteland of ash and mist ruled by the immortal emperor known as the Lord Ruler. Every revolt has failed miserably.
Yet somehow, hope survives. Hope that dares to dream of ending the empire and even the Lord Ruler himself. A new kind of uprising is being planned, one built around the ultimate caper, one that depends on the cunning of a brilliant criminal mastermind and the determination of an unlikely heroine, a street urchin who must learn to master Allomancy, the power of a Mistborn.
Review: My first experience with Brandon Sanderson was reading the last few books of The Wheel of Time series that he completed for Robert Jordan after Jordan had passed away. Ever since I joined the blogging and bookstagram community, I have been seeing people rave about the Mistborn series. I finally got around to reading it and I saw exactly why people love it so much. The science of allomancy is genius. Sometimes it was a little hard to keep the different metals and alloys straight but otherwise it was fascinating. Vin was an interesting character but she did have a few inconsistencies. Kelsier on the other hand was awesome! He was definitely my favorite character in the book. He was totally badass with a killer sense of humor. This book had everything I look for in a great fantasy novel. I can’t wait to read the rest of the trilogy.
