Reading Update

Hey everyone! It’s been awhile since my last post so I thought I would just check in now that things are starting to die down again in my personal life.  We moved out of our townhouse and officially listed it for sale a week ago today.  It’s been a crazy couple of weeks but I finally started having time to read again this week.  I was so happy to receive an ARC of Night of Cake & Puppets by Laini Taylor in the mail last week from The Novl! I jumped up and down with joy.  So I’m currently reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone to prepare to read it.  After I finish DoSaB, I will move on to Days of Blood and Starlight.  When that is finished I will pick up the ARC.  I’ve flipped through it and the illustrations that made it into the ARC are fantastic!  I’ve already preordered my finished copy so I can’t wait to see the rest of the illustrations.

I am also still continuing my re-read of the Outlander series.  I had to put it down for a couple weeks but started reading it again last night.  I’ve missed these characters and story so much.  It’s been almost three years since I first fell in love with this series.  Going back and reading it again reminds me of all of the differences between the book and the tv adaptation.  Not bad differences though… I love the adaptation as well.

I am also currently listening to an audiobook of a non-fiction history book that I read years ago.  It is called The Six Wives of Henry VIII by Alison Weir.  I love Tudor history, especially about Henry VIII and his wives.  Alison Weir is probably my favorite non-fiction author who writes about Tudor history.  The narrator has a very soothing voice similar to Jim Dale who is one of my favorite narrators.

WWW Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words.
Each week we answer the following three questions:
-What have you recently finished reading?
-What are you currently reading?
-What are you reading next?

Thanks to Bout of Books, I got a bunch of great reading in last week.  I really enjoyed Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins but I think my favorite read of BoB 14 was A Discovery of Witches!  It was really good!  Witches of East End was okay.  I actually liked the Lifetime series better.  Voice of Innocence was a good read.  I’ll be reviewing that one in the next couple of days.  And just this morning on the way to work I finished Stardust.

www826I tried reading Magonia the other day and I just could not get past the voice of the main character.  I get that’s she’s pretty much allergic to air but good grief.  She just sounds like a whiny brat.  Maybe I’ll try again someday but at the moment I just can’t read another word.

I finally started on the 3rd book of the Kricket series by Amy A. Bartol – Darken the Stars.  I’m literally only 2% in and I love it already haha.  Her writing always draws me in.

www826nextI just got this awesome book from my #OTSPSecretSister today and I can’t wait to read it.  I couldn’t help but to move it to the top of my TBR!  I’ve been hesitant to start the ARC of A Thousand Nights because it sounds so much like The Wrath and the Dawn, which I just finished reading not long ago.

WWW Wednesdays – Jaunary 14, 2015

WWW Wednesdays is a weekly post hosted by Should Be Reading where you answer the following three questions every week.

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What are you going to read next?

This week was slow for me for reading.  I’ve been in such a Gilmore Girls mood so I’ve been watching more than I’ve been reading!  Oops!  Oh well.  I only have two seasons left to get through 😛

CURRENTLY READING – technically I haven’t started Into Thin Air yet but I anticipate starting it this evening after work.

RECENTLY FINISHED – technically I haven’t finished The Scarlet Letter yet but I anticipate finishing it at lunch today.

I like to have a NetGalley e-book going at the same time as a physical book so I have something to read in a place where I can’t always have a physical book with me.  And it will help me a lot this year with my 2015 NetGalley Challenge!

What are your WWW this week?
