October 2019 Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon

Time for another readathon! I always look forward to participating in Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon because I love being able to read all day long. This one is happening this Saturday, October 26th. Unfortunately I do have a few plans on Saturday so I won’t be able to spend the entire day reading but I am planning to read for as much as I possibly can. I’m not really going to set any goals for myself like I usually do but I did pull together a little TBR to read from. I will be starting Teeth in the Mist sometime during the week but I am including it in my TBR because I’m not sure if I will be able to finish it by Saturday.

I’m really looking forward to reading all of these books. I’m not sure which ones I will be able to get to but since I am a mood reader I wanted to give myself plenty of options to choose from. I will be working on finishing Teeth in the Mist first and then go from there.

Are you participating in this round of Dewey’s? Do you like to participate in readathons?

October 2018 Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon Wrap-Up

Another readathon completed! I Had such a nice relaxing and very cozy day filled with reading. I ended up sleeping in so I missed the exact start time but still ended up reading for about 13 hours.  I started off with a graphic novel, Saga vol. 8. It was really good! I love that series so much. Then I started Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor. Since this book was my most anticipated read of 2018, I didn’t want to rush through it so I took my time and decided to stop at page 153 so I could spread the book out over a few days. Next I read Saga vol. 9 which is the most recent release. It was fantastic but omg that ending! I need the next volume ASAP! Next up was Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. I had heard so many great things about this book. I really enjoyed it! Several twists and an ending I didn’t quite see coming. I can’t wait to read the next book. After I finished that book, I started reading An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson. I am really liking it! I only read 113 pages of it before I got tired and decided to go to bed at 1 am.

October 2018 Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon!

Picture_20181011_201705869.jpgHey everyone! Sorry I’ve been MIA again. We had a busy week last week with our good friends getting married. My husband was a groomsman so we had lots going on. This week we are in the midst of preparations for our Oktoberfest party that we are having with those same friends that got married last weekend. The past few years we have gone down to a brewery we all love for their Oktoberfest celebration but this year we decided to have our own shindig. We’re going to have lots of beer and German food all day on Saturday. I’m really excited for it!

Anyways, on to the reason for this post. It is almost time for the next Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon! It will be happening next weekend on October 20th. In the past I have ALWAYS had something come up on the day of the readathon so I never get to read as much as I would like to. But this year, and I hope I’m not jinxing myself, we have NOTHING on the schedule! It’s a miracle! I told my husband that we, or at least I, will be doing absolutely nothing but reading the day of the readathon.

If you haven’t heard of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, it’s pretty self explanatory. On October 20th the readathon starts at 8 AM EST (you can find your time zone and start time here). For me that will be 7 AM. And for the next 24 hours you can read and post about the books you’re reading on Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, your blog, etc. There are mini challenges throughout the day but you don’t have to participate in them if you don’t want. It only happens twice a year, April and October, so that makes me even more glad I’m able to fully commit this time.

I’m going to continue reading books from my October Halloween TBR. I’ll probably post my TBR the day before as I’m not quite sure what books I will have left in my stack to read by then.

October 2016 Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon!

It’s time for another Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon!!!  I almost forgot all about it.  I’m going to take this one pretty easy because the last couple of readathons I did this year totally wiped my reading mood off the board.

What is Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-thon? For 24 hours, we read books, post to our blogs, Twitters, Tumblrs, Goodreads and MORE about our reading, and visit other readers’ homes online. We also participate in mini-challenges throughout the day. It happens twice a year, in April and in October.

It was created by the beloved Dewey (her blog is archived at the Wayback Machine). The first one was held in October 2007. Dewey died in late 2008. We’re still saddened by her absence, but the show must go on. The read-a-thon was renamed to honor its founder in 2009.

Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-thon is hosted by Heather and Andi of The Estella Society, with help from volunteers.

For the readathon, I’m just going to continue on with the books left in my Halloween themed TBR.  As of right now, I will have 4-5 books to choose from depending on how many I read before Saturday.  Start time is 7am CST but I plan to start whenever I wake up which won’t be long after that anyways.  I do not plan to stay up for the full 24 hours.  I haven’t been able to do that since college.  Feel free to follow along with my progress on Instagram and Twitter!  After the readathon is over I will post an update here.

Are you participating in the readathon?

April 2016 Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon TBR

Tomorrow is the April 2016 Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon!  I signed up about a month ago and this will be my 2nd time participating.  I’m a little sad to have to say that something came up with some friends that my hubby really wanted to do so I agreed to sacrifice most of my reading day to go along.  I will be getting up early in the morning to get some good quality reading time in for a few hours.  Then when the event is over I will spend most of the night reading until I can’t stay awake anymore.

This is kind of my tentative TBR for the readathon.  I was hoping to have Passenger finished by the time the readathon starts but I don’t think that’s going to happen so I will be working on finishing that first.  After I finish Passenger, I will just kind of see what I’m in the mood for.  I am excited to read all of these!

My goals for the readathon are:

  • Finish Passenger
  • Participate in at least one mini challenge
  • Read at least 500 pages total

So that’s what I have roughly planned for this readathon!  Are you participating in the readathon?
