October 2018 Halloweenie TBR

Happy October! One of my favorite months of the year! Autumn is my absolute favorite season and I love choosing my reads to fit the mood of this time of year. I am really excited about the books I’ve chosen to read this month, especially after getting hardly any time to read during September. I am ready to go!

First off, I plan to read Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor. It releases tomorrow! I am completely obsessed with the first book, Strange the Dreamer, so I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the sequel. The title does kind of fit the theme for the month, too. The rest of the books I have chosen for the month all fit perfectly into the Halloweenie theme. Ghosts, witches, vampires, etc.

There they are! And how cute are the Hocus Pocus Funkos?! I could not resist getting them! I watch Hocus Pocus annually around this time of year so I’m very excited to watch it, read it, and have these little guys. I LOVE that they even included Mary’s vacuum and Winifred’s classic mouth.

Have you read any of the books in my stack? What do you plan to read this month?

WWW Wednesday – October 19, 2016

www-wednesdayWWW Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words.
Each week we answer the following three questions:
-What have you recently finished reading?
-What are you currently reading?
-What are you reading next?

I have had a much better reading month so far!  I’ve been reading everyday and am making excellent progress on my October Halloween themed TBR.  I’ve already read more than double what I read last month.  Also, on Saturday I will be participating in Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon. In case you missed my post on that yesterday, check it out here.

In the past week I have finished 4 books.  I really enjoyed all but The Merciless.  I was hoping for some good spooky witchy stuff but it was really just some crazy girls attempting exorcisms with lots of graphic violence.  I actually just finished Blood and Salt this morning.

Currently I am finishing up my audio reread of Linger by Maggie Stiefvater.  It’s pretty good.  I love that they have different narrators for each of the main characters.  On my lunch break today I will be starting Nightfall.  I’m really excited to read this because it sounds really creepy!

Up next I will just be continuing to work through my Halloween themed TBR.  You can see the books I have left to read here.

  • The Exorcist
  • Slasher Girls & Monster Boys
  • Deliver Us From Evil
  • The House

What have you been reading lately?

WWW Wednesday – October 12, 2016

WWW Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words.
Each week we answer the following three questions:

-What are you currently reading?
-What are you reading next?

Wow! It has been awhile since my last WWW post!  September was a pretty big slump month for me so I didn’t read a lot.  This month seems to be going a lot better so far though!

In the last week I finished up three books.  Bury the Living is a book I received for participating in the blog tour (stay tuned for my post on the 21st!).  I also finished The Grownup one evening.  There were a couple creepy moments but kind of hard to get anything past that because of how short the story is.  I also am continuing my way through the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries so yesterday I just finished up book 4: The Julius House.  I definitely enjoyed that one more than books 2&3.

Currently I have put Stones from the River on hold because it doesn’t really fit the theme for the month and I’ve been having a hard time getting through it anyways.  I’m also in the middle of an audiobook re-read of The Wolves of Mercy Falls series so I’m part way through Linger.  Yesterday I started reading Asylum and I am already 2/3 way through it!  I love the creepy vibes.

Up next I’m not quite sure what I will choose to read.  I have lots of good books to choose from for my October TBR.  After Asylum I will have only read 3 of these so far.  I think I might go with The Merciless but we will see what I think after I finish Asylum.  What would be your vote for my next read?

October TBR

foggy-545838_1920I am very excited about the selection of books I have put together for my Halloween themed TBR!  I put together quite a few books to give me some options.  I will probably be starting with Shutter so that I have plenty of time to read and review it for the blog tour that I’m on for it.  After I finish that one, I’ll just see which of these I am more in the mood for. My plan is to read Slasher Girls & Monster Boys one story at a time in between the other books.

  • Slasher Girls & Monster Boys edited by April Genevieve Tucholke
  • Blood and Salt by Kim Liggett
  • Asylum by Madeleine Roux
  • Nightfall by Jake Halpern & Peter Kujawinski
  • The Merciless by Danielle Vega
  • The Grownup by Gillian Flynn
  • The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty
  • In A Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware
  • Shutter by Laurie Faria Stolarz (arc)
  • Deliver Us From Evil by Ralph Sarchie and Lisa Collier Cool
  • The House by Christina Lauren

What books are you planning on reading this month?

October Book Hauls

Happy Halloween everybody!  I can’t believe how fast October has gone.  I’ve had some great hauls this month, definitely more than I should have.  But I’ve been working on upgrading my permanent collection from paperbacks to hardcovers.

IMG_20151029_181351These are all of the books that are brand new to my collection.

  • The Dark Hunters novels by Sherrilyn Kenyon boxed set (Night Pleasures, Night Embrace, Dance With The Devil, Kiss of The Night, Night Play)
  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling and illustrated by Jim Kay

  • What Matters In Jane Austen? by John Mullan
  • The Time Traveler’s Guide to Elizabethan England by Ian Mortimer
  • The Time Traveler’s Guide to Medieval England by Ian Mortimer

IMG_20151029_181728And of course when I took the photo, I forgot about these two books.

  • Coraline by Neil Gaiman
  • Trial By Fire by Josephine Angelini

These books were the ones that I upgraded from paperback to hardcovers.

IMG_20151029_182128All of these but New Moon I got from Thrift Books for great prices.

  • The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling
  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth
  • Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
  • New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
  • The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks
  • The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks
  • The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks
  • A Bend In The Road by Nicholas Sparks
  • A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks
  • The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks
  • Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
  • The Choice by Nicholas Sparks
  • Nights In Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks
  • The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks
  • Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks

And these next books were to replace books I already had but did not match the rest of the series they go with.  I hate having mismatched books in series so I was glad to finally get the right size and/or edition.

  • Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
  • Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery
  • Anne of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery
  • Stardust by Neil Gaiman (this one I upgraded because I had the movie cover edition before and I don’t like having movie cover editions)
  • Meridon By Philippa Gregory
  • The White Princess by Philippa Gregory

Then I added two hardcovers to my Gone With The Wind collection.

IMG_20151029_182325And I added some original cover hardcovers to my Outlander collection.  I still haven’t been able to find a decent priced Dragonfly In Amber hardcover with the original cover yet.

IMG_20151029_182636I was lucky enough to win Stefani @ Caught Read Handed’s Everything, Everything giveaway!  I read this book as an ARC and totally loved it.  I am so excited to be able to add this signed copy to my permanent collection!

IMG_20151030_171100And I couldn’t resist picking up with package deal I saw Neil Gaiman offering through Harper Collins on Twitter a few days ago for the paperback release of Trigger Warning.

IMG_20151030_171441So those are all of the books that I have acquired this month.  Obviously this was a TON of books so I’m going to be very stingy for the next few months.  And sadly I have not gotten my October package from my OTSP Secret Sister so hopefully that will come soon next week.
