WWW Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words.
Each week we answer the following three questions:
-What have you recently finished reading?
-What are you currently reading?
-What are you reading next?

Despite the number of books that I finished in the past week, I was disappointed with half of them so it wasn’t as great of a week as it may look.  November 9 by Colleen Hoover was AMAZING!  It literally blew my mind and I can’t wait to do the Maybe Someday readalong with the Bibliophile Gathering Goodreads group next month!  My audiobook reads were also great.  The Fellowship of the Ring was a reread for me and the only part I didn’t like about the narration was the narrator’s singing voice haha.  The Return of the Native I have never read before but I started it the day that Alan Rickman passed away because he narrated it and I needed to hear his voice.

Onto the disappointments…  Daughters Unto Devils by Amy Lukavics was a book that I had been looking forward to reading since October.  I won it in a giveaway, which is good because I ended up not liking it at all.  Even though it is a really short book, it was torture trying to get through it.  Same thing with Nirvana.  It was just a weird, confusing book.  I didn’t like it.  And Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict… not so good.

Currently I have some great reads going on!  I just started the audio reread of The Two Towers (which is my personal favorite of the trilogy).  I also started The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness.  It is my second book written by Ness.  So far I’m a little confused by the setting but I’m barely into the book yet.  The Passenger by Lisa Lutz is my current eARC read via NetGalley.  So far it’s promising.  *Last week I said I was going to start Betrayed by Lynn Carthage as my eARC but for whatever reason it doesn’t display every other page on my Kindle Fire so I started The Passenger.  It does display properly on my phone app so I will still be able to read it.*  And I have made a little progress on Under The Dome by Stephen King.  Erica and I aren’t making this book a priority since it is so big.  Taking it slow and steady.

And up next I have a few review copies to catch up on since I will have completed my January TBR with The Knife of Never Letting Go.  I won Never Tear Us Apart and The Symbolism and Sources of Outlander through LibraryThing for review.  And I won Perfect Days through Shelf Awareness for review.  I’m excited to read all of these.

What have you been reading lately?

Top Ten Books Recently Added To My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  Each week there is a new topic and this week’s topic is:  Top Ten Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR (inspired by Jamie’s New To The Queue posts).  I really need to go through my TBR shelf on Goodreads because I have over 1000 titles on it.  Here are the ten most recent added to my TBR!  (All links for titles go to their Goodreads page)

  • Perfect Days by Raphael Montes – I recently received this ARC from a Shelf Awareness giveaway!  I love reading crime books so I am really excited to read this one.
  • Evelina by Fanny Burney – My lovely friend Lauren aka Bird recommended this one to me because of my love for Jane Austen.  I recently found it at Half Price Books so I’m looking forward to reading that one next month.
  • Betrayed by Lynn Carthage – I was invited to read this ARC via NetGalley because I read and reviewed the first book of the series, Haunted.  I was going to start it this morning but for some reason the galley wouldn’t display all of the pages on my Kindle Fire.  I’m going to try my regular Kindle and if not, I know it works on my phone.
  • Never Tear Us Apart by Monica Murphy – I won this book for review via LibraryThing in the December batch.  It sounds like a really good read.
  • Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers – I’ve been seeing some good buzz about this book.  I love fantasy novels and it sounds a little bit like Throne of Glass, which I love.

What books have you recently added to your TBR?

September Book Haul

So much for putting myself on a book buying ban!  I told myself I was only going to get my pre-orders but I ended up buying a bunch more. I also got a bunch through giveaways so at least it isn’t as bad as it looks. IMG_20150930_192007

I decided that I loved certain series so much that I needed to upgrade my paperbacks to hardcovers.  I got A Court of Thorns and Roses, Throne of Glass series, The Grisha trilogy and The Lunar Chronicles.  I’ll be selling my paperbacks the next time I’m at Half Price Books.

My last Half Price Books run I got only a few books for myself and some for Ethan.  And of course after I took this photo I realized I was missing one I had gotten for myself.  In addition to those in the photo I also got The Complete Poems of Robert Frost.

The rest are pretty self-explanatory….

I also have some other books I have ordered but they haven’t arrived yet so I won’t be including them until my October book haul.  I have a couple of pre-orders as well next month.

I’m really looking forward to reading all of these books!  And that’s it for my haul this month!  Thanks for stopping by!  Tune in tomorrow to check out my Halloweeny TBR/TBW!

January Book Acquisitions

I’ve been trying to ease up on my book purchasing, mostly because I already own so many that I haven’t read and because the cost adds up.  In fact, I have been contemplating putting myself on a book buying ban for the next few months.  This month I acquired 9 print books.

I have been wanting to read Cress ever since I finished Scarlet.  But since I own Cinder and Scarlet in paperback I wanted Cress to match.  The paperback copy was released January 27th so I pre-ordered it on Amazon.

LibraryThing Early Reviewers December Batch:

I requested to win a bunch during this last batch and this is the one that I won.  I thought it sounded really interesting and original.  I can’t wait to start reading this one soon.

Half Price Books haul:

IMG_20150201_105906I managed to fit in a Half Price Books haul last night and managed to get the bottom four books in the clearance section from $1-2 each.  The top three were each $7.99 but I felt that they were worth it.  I recently read Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer which was his account of the 1996 disaster on Mount Everest.  A friend of mine told me about The Climb while I was still reading Into Thin Air.  It is the account from the perspective of a Russian guide who was there during that same time.  There is a lot of controversy surrounding the two accounts as there are different facts.  I loved Into Thin Air so much that I thought it would be really interesting to read a different account.  I have wanted to read The Mists of Avalon for a long long time.  We were at the Mall of America last night and I tried looking for it at Barnes & Noble but they didn’t have it.  So I was really lucky to find it at HPB last night.  All of these books look great and I can’t wait to get to them… someday haha.
