Not much as happened since my last WWW post which was 2 weeks ago.  I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump so I haven’t made too much progress on any of the books I was physically reading.

www2316fin

Within the last two weeks I was only able to finish these 3 books.  The Two Towers audiobook was great.  Gena/Finn by Hannah Moskowitz and Kat Helgeson was an ARC I read via NetGalley.  That one was mostly good.  You can read my review here.  And The Passenger by Lisa Lutz was another ARC I read via NetGalley.  This one was pretty disappointing.  I will be posting my review Friday.

I am still slogging my way through The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness.  I am really bummed that I am not liking this as much as I thought because it came so highly recommended by several people.  I’m a little over halfway through and that has taken me two weeks.  Instead of moving on to The Return of the King audiobook reread I decided to do my audio reread of The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon so that I can be refreshed when I start the next book in the series hopefully soon.  I was invited to read the ARC of Betrayed by Lynn Carthage because I read and reviewed the first book of the series.  So far it is okay but I feel like I’m either missing something or forgot something from the first book which I read almost exactly 1 year ago.

And I am going to go with the same set of books for my Up Next since I didn’t get to any of these.  They are all books I have received for review and I am actually really excited to read all three of these so I might just have to set down The Knife of Never Letting Go for awhile and start these.  I’ll probably start with The Symbolism and Sources of Outlander first because I got that one in September.  Ooops!  I have a feeling that my original plan for my February TBR is going to be left in the dust this month so I can get some ARCs read and reviewed.  I will be posting my February TBR tomorrow morning after I work out a plan so be sure to check that out!

Month In Review: October 2015

monthinreviewOctober was a bit of a dud for reading.  I was so excited for my Halloweeny TBR but then I ended up not being in the mood to read for much of the month.  Perhaps I was a little too excited.  I’ve already surpassed my goal for the year so I’m not too upset about it.  There will be plenty of time for me to read in November now that I’m back in the mood.

# Books read in October: 6 (including 1 DNF and 3 audiobooks)
# Pages read in October: 842 (not including DNF)
# Books Read YTD: 125
# Pages Read YTD: 40,562
Challenge Updates:
Goodreads: 125/110
2015 TBR Pile Challenge: 7/12
2015 NetGalley & Edelweiss Challenge: 30/25 Silver Level Complete

  • The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich (re-read)
  • Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (audiobook)
  • Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined by Stephenie Meyer
  • Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon (audiobook)
  • Salem’s Lot by Stephen King (DNF)
  • Voyager by Diana Gabaldon (audiobook)

I’ve been in the process of listening to the first four books in the Outlander series as a refresher before I decide to read The Fiery Cross (book 5) in December.  I have really enjoyed listening to them.  The narrator, Davina Porter, is perfect.  I’m more than halfway through with Drums In Autumn.

What books did you read in October?  I hope you had a better reading month than I did!

Happy November and happy reading!

Recently Finished

Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon (audiobook)

Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined by Stephenie Meyer

DNF: ‘Salem’s Lot by Stephen King

Currently Reading

Voyager by Diana Gabaldon (audiobook)

The Witching Hour by Anne Rice

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Up Next

Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kauffman

I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump the past couple of weeks.  I decided to give up on ‘Salem’s Lot by Stephen King.  It just wasn’t holding my interest and I didn’t want to spend any more time on it.  I’m getting close to setting The Witching Hour to the side as well, but this one I will finish at a later date.  It’s starting to get interesting but it’s just so long.  I want to move my concentration on to some of the new releases I’ve gotten lately.

Month In Review: July 2015

monthinreviewIt’s hard to believe that I’m putting this post together already.  Where has the summer gone?  I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump the past week so I was surprised to see how many books I got through this month.  Granted, I had a couple of DNF but I still wasn’t expecting to get through as many as I did.

# Books read in July: 15
# Pages read in July: 3,934 (does not include DNF)
# Books Read YTD: 85
# Pages Read YTD: 29,081
Challenge Updates:

Books Read:

  • Made You Up by Francesca Zappia
  • Dream Eater’s Carnival by Leslie Anderson & David T Allen
  • We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
  • Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
  • Everybody Rise by Stephanie Clifford (audiobook DNF)

  • Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin
  • Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
  • Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
  • The Mansion’s Twins by Rose M. Channing
  • The Distant Hours by Kate Morton (DNF)

Best Book Read –

Honestly, I can’t choose just one for this month.  There were a few that I completely loved!

Made You Up, Eleanor & Park, Crown of Midnight, Black-Eyed Susans and Everything, Everything

Worst Book Read –

Definitely the three DNFs I had this month.  Everybody Rise (only because the narration was so bad), As Red As Blood and The Distant Hours.

I’m not doing a very good job reading off of my 20 Books of Summer list.  I have read way more than 20 books total this summer so I’m going to call it a success.  I always have problems making a list of books to read and sticking to it because I’m a mood reader.

Most of my summer plans are over with so I’m looking forward to having more time to read!  I posted my July book haul yesterday and mentioned that I’m putting myself on a book buying ban until further notice.  I am going to concentrate my efforts on reading the books I currently own.  I have PLENTY to keep me occupied for awhile.

I’m finally over my reading slump.  I didn’t do WWW last week because there wasn’t any change from the week before that.  Yesterday I was able to finish two books and read some of my current read as well!  It feels so good to be over the slump!

www62415cur

I feel like I’ve been working on this one forever but I’m finally making progress.  I’m loving being back in the world of Outlander with Jamie and Claire.  I won’t have any free time this weekend to read as we are going camping with our friends, but maybe when we get home Sunday I’ll be able to have some relaxation time with my book.

www62415

I’m hesitant to add these to my UP NEXT category but they are what I’m in the mood for at this point in time.  But since I’m only at 308 pages out of 1070 for Drums of Autumn, that could easily change by the time I finish it.  I also have another author request book I will be working on but didn’t want to include the cover until I start reading it.
