I really LOVED both of these books! Uprooted was really imaginative while also feeling like a classic fantasy. All Your Perfects was another great one that just solidifies my love for Colleen Hoover even further. I laughed, I cried… I stayed up late to finish it.

I’m still in the middle of the second novella in Lord John and the Hand of Devils. I’ve set it off to the side for now because I’m a little bored with it.  On Monday I started reading Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. I have never read one these two have written together before but LOVE Amie’s series with Jay Kristoff. I haven’t gotten very far into it yet but so far it’s pretty good.

I’m not exactly sure what I want to read next but these two are high on my list. They are both on my July TBR and since the month is almost coming to a close I want to try and read at least one more from the list.

Last night I finished reading Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. It was pretty great, solid 4 stars, and I can’t wait to read the sequel. There were a few slow moments and admittedly a few eye rolls but overall it was really good.

After I finished CoBaB, I started reading LIFEL1K3 by Jay Kristoff which was just released in the US! This book was one of my most anticipated reads of 2018 and so far it is living up to my expectations! Jay Kristoff is one of my absolute favorite authors so I’m really glad that this book is no exception so far.

I anticipate finishing LIFEL1K3 either later today or tomorrow so I will be starting off fresh on Friday for the start of 20 Books of Summer! I honestly don’t know which of the books I am going to pick first. I may already have to change up one of my genre TBRs since I just found out I will be getting a review copy of a book that is #3 in a series – Six Tudor Queens series by Alison Weir – that I own the first two books but haven’t read. Technically they could be read out of order but I generally like to stick with the order of things, even when it’s not absolutely necessary. On Friday I’ll be posting an updated TBR for the start of the challenge.

Recently Finished9675519I am finally making more progress on The Plantagenet and Tudor novels series by Philippa Gregory. Years ago I had read The Other Boleyn Girl back when the movie with Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson was coming out but I never really got around to reading the rest of the series even though I live for Tudor history.  I just finished book 3 in the series, The Red Queen, which is from Margaret Beaufort’s POV.  I thought it was really well written and definitely kept me intrigued from the very beginning.

31076583I also finished A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas.  I had been looking forward to this one for ages.  It is one of my favorite series so I’m glad when it didn’t end with ACOWAR last year.  Really looking forward to reading the new novels as they are published.  What really surprised me about this book was the range of emotion.  It is a really short book, technically a novella, so it was really refreshing to feel such a wide range of emotions while reading it.  There were sad moments, anger, and so many bust-out-laughing moments.  I love the inner circle and their camaraderie so much!

Currently Reading35068432Currently I am reading I’ll Be Gone In The Dark by Michelle McNamara.  I had been DYING to read this book ever since I heard about it. I really love reading books in the true crime genre and lately with all of the publicity about this killer finally being caught, I just needed to get a copy ASAP.  It’s really sad though that the author passed away in 2016 and wasn’t able to see all of her hard work pay off in helping direct information towards catching this killer. I started reading it last night and had to stop… My hubby went to bed early and requested that I use my booklight to read but it was just too creepy so I ended up putting the book down haha. This killer preyed on couples late at night in their beds so I was done for the night.  It is really interesting so far though!

Up Next3118024835959740Up next I am planning on choosing between these two books.  After reading I’ll Be Gone In The Dark, I may need something light and contemporary so I would go with Leah On The Offbeat by Becky Albertalli.  If I don’t need something lighter I may end up choosing Circe by Madeline Miller.  We shall see!

Recently I have finished 3 books and DNF’ed 1 book.  I started Without Merit on the first day of February and finished it two days later.  It wasn’t my favorite Colleen Hoover book but I still really liked it!  I decided to DNF a review copy I had been reading for Blogging For Books.  It was just not working for me at all.  I put Drums of Autumn on pause for a little bit while I let my friend catch up and pass me a ways.  I was having a really hard time trying to decide what to read in the mean time.  I even dumped out my TBR jar to try and look through the slips towards the bottom but still couldn’t find anything that sparked my interest. I happened to sit down on my bed and glance at my Jane Austen shelf which has some retellings and decided to try one of those.  That seemed to work very well as I started and finished Captain Wentworth’s Diary on Monday, then started and finished Mr. Knightley’s Diary yesterday!  They seem to be just what I needed.

I decided since I was on a roll with the Austen retellings, to continue with the series written by Amanda Grange so I started Edmund Bertram’s Diary last night after finishing Mr. Knightley’s.  Mansfield Park is one of my favorite books ever so I’m really enjoying this one.  I plan to pick up Drums of Autumn again this weekend and catch up to my friend now that she has passed me.

Up next I will continue on reading Amanda Grange’s Austen retellings.  I will only have two left after I finish Edmund Bertram’s Diary: Colonel Brandon’s Diary and Henry Tilney’s Diary.  I anticipate reading and finishing those both by Friday evening if I continue at the rate I have been making it one book per day this week!  After I finish those and read more in Drums of Autumn I hope to pick up a book from my February TBR.

Recently I have finished two books.  One that fell really flat for me and one that I loved with all my heart.  The Diviners by Libba Bray was the one that fell flat.  I was really looking forward to reading it because I love books about the supernatural. I just didn’t feel connected to any of the characters and the story seemed to drag on longer than necessary.  The Cruel Prince by Holly Black was fantastic! I’m so glad I was able to read that one right away although I am already dying for book 2!  I love the world building and the way each character had their own secrets and weren’t exactly how they first seemed.

This morning I decided to continue on my third time through the Outlander series so I started Drums of Autumn this morning.  I’m really excited because it is one of my favorites in the series.  My friend is also on her first time through the series and is currently reading this one so it’s fun to kind of buddy read it with her.

Up Next

Since Drums of Autumn is such a big book and it’s one of my favorites I don’t plan to start any other books while I’m reading it.  I want to devote my full attention to it.  Because it is almost 900 pages long in the hardcover format I’m reading I don’t know how long it will take since I’m going out of town this weekend but I anticipate that I will still be reading it when next Wednesday comes around.
